The Phillips County Sheriff’s Office is currently accepting applications to create a hiring pool to fill future full and part-time Communications Officer (Dispatcher) positions. We are currently looking to fill 1 (one) Communications Officer (Dispatcher) position by the end of December. Applications will be accepted until positions are filled.
Applicants should be people-friendly and able to multi-task under stressful and rapidly evolving situations. Successful candidates will work varied shifts and possibly on a rotating schedule. Applicants must possess the following qualifications:
- Must be a United States citizen
- Must have a High School diploma or GED
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must possess or be eligible to obtain a Montana Driver’s License
- Must not have any felony convictions
- Must be of good moral character as determined by a thorough background investigation
- Must pass medical and mental health evaluations.
Possession of a current Montana Public Safety Communications Officer certification is preferred but not necessary to apply. If not certified, the applicant will be required to successfully complete the MLEA Public Safety Communications Officer Basic course within one-year of hire.
Full time benefits include 100% medical insurance premiums paid by the employer for employee, spouse, and children (this equates to a $17.44/hour benefit with a $1200 deductible), vacation/sick time accrual, and annual longevity pay increases. The starting wage is $16.33/hour. Pay will increase to $17.33/hour upon completion of 6 months of service and successful completion of the probationary period. These figures are as of December of 2025.
